Mnesis

Mnesis is a game about being a Monster who eats Memories.

This game is also an exploration of how our experiences and what we choose to hold onto, change us for better or for worse. It's about connection, and otherness, queerness and the ephemeral nature of our memories, which are represented by Candles.

As you light Birthday Candles, you will describe the Memories you consume. But as the flame burns ever lower, as the hot wax drips down onto your fingers and the heat becomes ever more palpable, you must make a decision. Is this Memory worth holding onto? Or is it simply fuel?

Mnesis is a 2-page GMless ttrpg, and can either be played Solo as a journaling game, or at a table of up to three people.


Depending on how you interpret Mnesis's prompts, this game may delve into some triggering or upsetting topics. I highly encourage use of safety tools such as the Traffic Light System, and discussing before play what topics are off limits for your table. 

Mnesis is intended to be played with candles, both short-lifed birthday candles, and three larger ones. Play responsibly, and if you're concerned about the risk of fire, instead use a short timer (4ish minutes per candle) or something else that degrades quickly like ice cubes.
